THE tale of St George and the Dragon will be told with gusto at Worcester Commandery, with a weekend of merry mummer's plays and family entertainment.

The museum, in Sidbury, will be cheerfully decorated to celebrate the much-loved story of England's patron saint, while visitors can explore a living history camp and see Saint George fight the fearsome dragon.

Over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and 23, young knights will be able to attend 'Squire School' to test their skills with a sword and train to become a knight's apprentice.

There will be opportunities to meet the fiery dragon, make a mask and join in with the entertainment and follow the trails to discover how many times this legendary saint has appeared throughout history.

The Commandery is also running other special events in the build-up to the big weekend, from Tuesday, April 18.

These include archery demonstrations and arrow-making sessions.

Sarah Bourne, events manager at the Commandery, said: " St George's Weekend will be a hive of activity, with creative crafts and opportunities to dress up and get involved with a great traditional celebration."
