While bars and babies do not always mix, two local mums have set up a new baby and toddler group in a Hereford pub.

Helen Bates and Emma Banks, both parttime duty managers at the King’s Fee in Commercial Road, say the Wetherspoons pub is perfect for parents with lots of room for pushchairs and child-friendly facilities.

Emma, mum of one-year-old Ewan, said: “There aren’t many cafes in Hereford with enough room for buggies, but here there is loads of room. Plus there are high-chairs and good baby changing facilities. Being comfortable makes a huge difference.”

The group will meet from 10am to 12pm every Tuesday from October 4.

There is one free tea or coffee for mums and free squash for children, but parents can also order food from the pub menu and bring in baby food from home.

“We’re in touch with a few Hereford mums and we’ve had a good response already,”

said Helen,mumof two-year-old Harrison.
