The Shop at Bromsberrow was filled with the sound of hammering on Valentines Day, for the start of National Nestbox Week.

Youngsters and adults alike enjoyed building their own nestboxes from kits supplied by RSPB Gloucestershire, along with hammers and nails.

Volunteers from RSPB were actually on hand to help out, as well as giving advice on where to locate the boxes in local gardens.

The event raised £130 for the RSPB and there will now be sixteen extra nestboxes round the village for birds to nest in.

Shop manager, Rachel Hicks said: “It was wonderful to hear the Shop filled with the banging of hammers and the sound of laughter.

"Following the success of this event we will be offering The Shop at Bromsberrow as a venue for other charities to promote themselves as we have plenty of space and a café offering refreshments.”
