CALLOUS thieves stole a charity box from a village pub’s shop.
Staff at the Stockton Cross Inn, in Kimbolton, discovered yesterday morning that a shed attached to the pub – and used as a village shop – had been broken into.
The till float was taken as well as a quantity of tobacco and a fundraising box for The Palmer Children’s Trust.
The Herefordshire-based charity was set up in memory of Kimbolton girl, Emilia, who died after suffering from a very rare lung disease.
Shaun Hann, a chef at the pub, said: “It’s a little shed and full of stuff for the locals like bread, paper and other essentials.
“It’s only a little village shop so we can’t really afford to be replenishing it. It’s a horrible thing to happen at this time of the year.”
Witnesses can call police on 101 with incident number 436.
