A HOMELESS man repeatedly visited the nurse who sectioned him to hurl abuse and threaten her, Hereford Crown Court heard.

The woman who worked at Monkmoor Court told a trial that she feared for her safety after William Bradley threatened that he "would be waiting for her in the dark".

A jury last Thursday informed Recorder Gareth Evans that they found Bradley, 64, guilty of harassing her, and putting her in fear of violence.

The nurse first came into contact with Bradley when, in August 2012, she was part of a medical team called to the police station to section him.

He was placed on a ward for 28 days, however when he came out he began a campaign of harassment against her that would last months.

The court heard how Bradley visited the nurse four or five times at her place of work, shouting and screaming in the building's reception and telling her manager that he wanted her struck off.

"He was agitated and shaking," Recorder Evans told the court.

"He told her that she had ruined his life.

"He had been there on a number of occasions, and a colleague had heard him say 'I'm going to get you'."

However the most sinister instance occurred the following January.

The nurse noticed him at Monkmoor Court staring at her with his hood up, his eyes following her round the room.

"He said he would be waiting for her in the dark and that she wouldn't know he was there," Recorder Evans told the court.

"He was totally calm.

"The experience left her very frightened."

Lee Egan, defending, told the court that Bradley – of no fixed abode – had only visited the premises once or twice to get a telephone number for the hospital.

However following a unanimous verdict, Bradley was remanded to Thornford Park hospital while a psychiatric assessment is completed ahead of sentencing.

An application for a restraining order will also be made by Lisa Hancox, prosecuting.
