I FEEL obliged to write to the Hereford Times as my complaints to Amey and the council fall on deaf ears regarding the state of the parks and open spaces.

Since the start of the summer I have become concerned that Amey appears to have decided to reduce its costs by not cutting the grass areas around our parks and open land. I live in Bridle road where we have what was a lovely children’s play area and park for our children to play on.

The park now resembles a weed and insect infected mess with the grass having not been cut to a satisfactory condition all summer. The length of the grass makes it impossible for children to play any sport leaving them with having to find alternative forms of exercise.

On phoning the customer services department at the council office they raise a complaint notice and it seems Amey just ignores it. Today I decided to telephone Amey direct to complain, I was passed through to a woman who told me they will get it cut sometime in the future but couldn't give me a date as they had fallen behind due to the weather. I wonder how quick the council/Amey would act if me and the rest of our estate suddenly decided to stop paying our council tax which would result in Amey not getting paid, because we had fallen behind due to the economic climate.
