FROM various reports and letters in one edition of the Hereford Times (March 22), it seems that Herefordshire Council’s planning department and the planning committee haven’t quite got the hang of consultation.
This is evidenced by a very late in the day confrontation with Royal Mail, a judicial review over reasons for rejecting an application, another in the offing over failing to properly recognise a petition, three long letters expressing concerns over roads and the ESG and a statement by Marc Willimont, regulatory services manager, suggesting that all members need some more training.
Up here in the north of the county we are well aware of the process of consultation.
There was a very strong local rejection of the Reeves Hill windfarm proposal which our representative, Olwyn Barnett, managed to condense to “feelings are divided”.
No they weren’t.
They were strongly “anti” the proposal with almost no opinion in favour.
The proposal was passed and Coun Barnett is now chairman of the council.
