LIZ Truss, the government’s Environment Minister, has approved the use of neonicotinoids (the pesticides scientists know damage bees) in three counties of England.
There is no good reason to use them. In fact, news this week says we’re expecting a great rapeseed harvest without the use of these pesticides.
If we’re going to stop these pesticides from reaching our fields and ruining our local bee population we need to act fast and spread the word.
Seeds must be planted within the next six weeks so please join the people who see the danger of this development and tell your local MP and anyone who will listen to stop even considering them, or it may be our area where they are used next.
Our fruit growers, honey makers and other local foods depend on bees.
