THE bare-faced cheek of property developers never ceases to amaze me.

Having had an application to build 38 houses at a wholly unsuitable location just off the B4222 in Lea quite properly refused by Herefordshire Council’s planning committee back in February, the same developer has now banged in a second application that is to all intents and purposes identical to the first one.

With a mere 218 dwellings, Lea has already had 48 extra houses approved in little more than a year. The 11 additional homes destined for the Lea Villa residential park brings the grand total to 59.

Adding a further 38 dwellings would without doubt constitute over-development and the B4222 site has experienced flash flooding and gives rise to access concerns.

Given that there are next to no job opportunities in Lea, I’m puzzled to understand where all these new residents are going to work.

I hope and trust the planning committee will treat this latest application in the same way that it treated the last one, and sling it out.
