THE last week of April will see a planning inquiry which could change the face of Hereford for ever.

Bovis wishes to build an estate of 135 houses on land which is within 20 metres of the Lugg Meadows which are the largest of the few remaining Lammas Meadows left in England.

The meadows are a Site of Special Scientific Interest and are home to many rare flora and fauna and an impressive display of snake's head fritillary which are at their best just now and offer a very pleasant area to walk and enjoy a way of life unchanged for over 1,000 years.

If the council's decision to reject this planning application is overturned then the open approach to Hereford, which has been protected for years, and the precious meadow will be under threat and could be lost for ever.

Yes, Hereford needs houses but thousands are already being built or planned and this unique site is the wrong location.

ALMA, Aylestone and Lugg Meadows Association, exists to protect the meadows. If you agree please join the 850 who have already signed either our door-to-door petition or our online petition at ipetitions.com/petition/alma where you will find more information about this proposed development.
