WHILE we hear so much about this important general election for Brecon and Radnorshire and for the country, isn’t it time that our elected representatives, whoever they are or will be, start to listen to the views, opinions and feelings of young people as well.

Young people are talented, energetic and motivated and want to play an important part in our society.

When I speak to my friends they say that they get turned off by politics.

For far too long young people have failed to engage with politics and the political process and is that because they don’t understand? It is probably part of the reason, but also can politicians be blamed for not carrying out their duty and engaging with the whole of their electorate?

There is a large number of politicians who only do the minimum and talk about the same old issues.

It is time for change. It is time that our elected representatives stand up for needs of their constituents both young and old.
