FOLLOWING your recent article regarding Jeff Hancorn’s issues with charging his electric car (Faith in electric cars running low on juice, Hereford Times, February 12), I too can say that I found it very difficult to find any usable charging spaces in the city when I recently had an electric vehicle on a seven-day test drive.
I tried the multi-storey car park, finding no obvious signs and assuming the charging points would be on or near the ground floor, I moved on.
My next stop was the St Martin’s Street car park; here the two available spaces were already occupied by vehicles on charge, obviously demonstrating that there’s a demand for more facilities.
We face something of a chicken-and-egg conundrum here. If the use of electric vehicles is to be encouraged then we must have somewhere to charge them while out and about.
