AT this time of year as we celebrate the festive season with friends and families it is often a good opportunity to stop and reflect – to give thanks for what we have and to think of others.

We often take time to pause and think of those who work to keep us safe over the festive season, such as those who work in the emergency services as well as hospital staff. They are often working over the holiday season and are away from their families.

May I also ask that we take a moment to remember the thousands of care workers across the country that provide quality support to people in their own homes or in residential and nursing care.

Care workers provide a vital service over the Christmas period and throughout the year and they don’t always get the appreciation they deserve. We hope that in 2015 there will be a better understanding of the excellent job they do. So let us remember them too whilst we enjoy the festivities.

Radis Community Care have been operating in the local area since 2004 and have a dedicated team of over 40 care workers operating across Herefordshire.

The team will be working over the Christmas period to ensure some of the most vulnerable people in the community are receiving vital support at what can be a very lonely time.

Whilst Christmas is a wonderful time of year for families and friends to come together, please aware of people who may be living alone. If you know someone who is alone during the festivities perhaps you could take the time to look in on them to see if they are okay.

Finally, may I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
