I AM writing to express my total support for surgeon Ian Wilson (Inquest told of unnecessary surgery, Hereford Times, October 2).
I only recently became aware of the various allegations against him via the media.
Four years ago, needing complicated heart surgery, I found myself under the expert care of Mr Wilson and his team. His care prior to, during and after surgery, complemented by the Queen Elizabeth ITU team, was exemplary.
Several days after surgery I developed complications which necessitated the presence of Mr Wilson throughout the night. I am certain that both his, and the ITU team’s knowledge and ability saved my life, for which I will be eternally grateful.
I am so glad they “had a go” under such difficult circumstances.
