I AM writing to say an enormous “thank you” to a wonderful, but anonymous donor.

On two occasions in the last six months, a woman has walked into The Haven in St Owen Street, Hereford, and handed an envelope to our receptionist before very quickly turning and leaving.

Each time, the envelope has contained a banker’s draft for £1,000 towards the work that we do here, supporting people affected by breast cancer.

There is no note of her name and address, so we are unable to write to her personally, and by the time we run out after her she has vanished.

In these times of austerity and local government cuts, and so much competition for funds from other local charities, it is becoming harder and harder for us to raise the money that we need each year to continue offering the unique and vital service that we do, so to have someone choose to support us in this very generous way is really appreciated.

So, if our mysterious benefactor is reading this letter in the Hereford Times, or if anyone knows who she is, please pass our sincere thanks and enormous gratitude on to her on behalf of the people she has helped at a time when they are most scared and vulnerable.

LESLEY LEACH, Community Fund-raiser, The Haven, 37 St Owen Street, Hereford.
