THIEVES stole copper wire from poles supporting overhead power lines in Eastnor.
The wire, worth around £300, was cut down near Massington Lodge at around 4am on Thursday.
Police say that they first became aware of the theft after a nearby resident reported that he had lost power.
"It appears that thieves carried out this theft while the power was still connected and it goes without saying that this is an extremely dangerous course of action,” said police press officer Chris Ammonds.
"The thieves could easily have been electrocuted and police suspect the offenders must have known exactly what they were doing to have successfully stolen the copper wire without harming themselves.”
Anyone with information can call police on 0300 333 3000 or 101.
