STAFF and pupils at Colwall CE Primary School have been celebrating after being rated 'good' in the school's latest Ofsted report.

The report says the school has been through a "very challenging period", having been housed in temporary accommodation for over three years while a new school building was constructed.

The report says: "Nevertheless, you [the head] and the staff have done everything possible to minimise the disruption to pupils' education and you have created a positive and happy learning environment."

The report was published days after the school moved into its new premises in Mill Lane. The original school building at Colwall Green had to be vacated because of a major damp problem.

After its last report in 2012, the school was asked to develop the role of subject leaders. The latest report says: "While English, mathematics and science leaders have a good understanding of the progress pupils are making in their subjects, this is not the case across all subjects."

The school should ensure that the subject leaders have increased opportunities to evaluate pupils' progress, says the report.

Head Helen Webb said: "We're delighted with the report, especially given all the upheavals the school has undergone in recent years. We hope that the inspectors will take the chance to see us in our new home, and see how well we're settling in."
