LEDBURY businesses are queuing up to take part in the next "Big Breakfast" event at Ledbury, with nineteen already confirming they will be be putting on the bacon and eggs in the New Year, for the annual mass celebration of the best meal of the day.

And, for the first time, the Big Breakfast will run over three days, instead of two.

The quick uptake means that the 2017 event will at least equal the 2016 serve-up in terms of scale, and will probably exceed it.

A spokesman for the Ledbury Food Group, which organises the Big Breakfast as a celebration of local produce and outlets said: "Food shops, butchers, cafes, and hotels in and around Ledbury will be offering all kinds of food to celebrate that most important of meals – breakfast, and what we at the Ledbury Food Group consider important – good locally produced food and drink.

"It’s special for the variety of breakfast treats on offer from the lightest breakfast to the heartiest, many featuring the local produce for which Herefordshire is famous."

The spokesman added: "We ask venues to on their own breakfast special for this event, as well as their normal fare. Last year you could enjoy breakfast frittata, smoked salmon and eggs, potato rosti, eggs Florentine, breakfast pudding, porridge with cider sauce, breakfast omelettes, scotch pancakes, local cheese and beer rarebit, eggs royale, muffins, granola and of course, very special eggs and bacon."

Businesses which have already confirmed they will take part include Handley Organics; Four Oaks Delicatessen; The Café at Nice Things; Gurneys Butchers; Market House Cafe; Llandinabo Farm Shop; Chez Pascal; Wallers Butchers; Muse Cafe; The Nest; Cameron & Swan; Trumpet Corner; Caffe 21;The Retreat; Mrs Muffins; Ceci Paolo; The Talbot; The Feathers and Ledbury Country Market.
