PERSUASIVE debate last week made Ledbury town councillors change their minds about not giving a £400 grant to the Ledbury Food Group.

A recommendation to full council was that the money should not be awarded, but this was overturned.

Cllr Tony Bradford asked Food Group spokesman, Griff Holliday: "I want to know where the £400 is going to go."

Mr Holliday said: "Essentially the money is to help fund the food drink element of the Ledbury Celebration. There are overheads and costs, in terms of administration."

Up to 20 stall holders, all selling food and drink, have been booked for the Celebration on Sunday, July 10, on the last day of the Ledbury Poetry Festival.

Mr Holliday said it was an event for Ledbury, and for Ledbury people.

Cllr Keith Francis said: "The Food Group put on a very successful event last year. It was very well attended, and we should support this."
