A WELLAND man has been order to carry out 100 hours' unpaid work for possessing 844 grammes of cannabis and a Ledbury woman has been given a 16-week suspended prison sentence for producing cannabis.

William Byers, 50, of Watery Lane, and Annie Clarke, 46, of Miller Craddock Way, Ledbury, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on December 21 for the charges relating to the class B drug at Bromsberrow, Ledbury, on June 11 last year. Clarke also admitted possessing 9.4 grammes of amphetamine, also a controlled class B drug.

Byers was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Clarke was given a 16-week prison sentence for each offence to run concurrently and suspended for 12 months and150 hours' unpaid work for each offence. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80, £85 costs and a criminal courts charge of £180. A forfeiture and destruction order was made for the cannabis and amphetamine.
