LEDBURY photographer, Dan Barker, set himself the task of taking an engaging image on every single day of the year, and now the results are there to be seen.

Mr Barker, a professional who recently took a series of stunning Remembrance Sunday images for The Ledbury Reporter, said he learnt a lot through his attempt to catalogue an entire year; and in fact the project took him 13 months, not 12 months as planned, because there were some days during the year when it wasn't possible to get an image.

He said: "It should have taken a year - the reality was 13 months. But importantly, I managed to take 365 photos.

"A few days just escaped me and the camera. Other days were remembered last minute.

"But many photos were considered and thoroughly enjoyed."

Mr Barker added: "I've learned loads during this project. As soon as I started this project I knew it was going to be useful, I learned heaps in the first few weeks. Not just about my camera and framing, but also how to 'see'. I started looking more.

"This is not only helpful as a photographer, but it makes you stop and appreciate your surroundings every day - you start to find beauty in the mundane."

Mr Barker believes other photographer would enjoy trying to catalogue the year.

He said: "If you have the slightest urge to improve your photography, give it a go - you don't have to start with a 365 project, just do 30 days and see how you get on."
