ONE of British Athletics' star names will be heading to Worcester for the second edition of a 10km run.

Jo Pavey, the current 10,000m European Champion, has signed up for the Worcester City 10k on Sunday, September 20.

Jo had an incredible 2014 with a bronze in the Commonwealth Games 5,000m, gold in the European 10,000m and third in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year - all achieved while getting back to her best after the birth of her second child.

She has her sights set on getting to the 2016 Olympics and is planning to enjoy running this year.

Jo said: "I'm really excited about running in Worcester, I've been told what a great event it was last year with an amazing atmosphere, big crowds and a scenic course.

"It's going to be a great day out for the whole family."

Last year RGS Worcester student Jenny Nesbitt won the women's race, beating running legend Paula Radcliffe.

Jo, aged 41, said she is looking forward to meeting the young pretender.

"I was impressed to hear how Jenny ran last year.

"I'm getting towards the end of my career and to hear about young athletes coming through is exciting for me as I want the future of British distance running.to be bright."
