Ledbury Community Brass Band is looking for a new band director, because its two existing directors are standing down.

The group was formed in the autumn of 2011 by a group of parents and music teachers who were eager to provide "a very traditional sound to such a vibrant market town".

A spokesman said: "None of this would be possible without the sturdy leadership of the band directors, Stuart Essenheigh and John Frith, both accomplished brass musicians in their own right; however, regrettably neither are able commit their time from Autumn 2015.

"Stuart, a music teacher and professional musician with top orchestras is now heavily committed to both roles and John, having come out of retirement to direct the band over the last few years, now wishes to step down yet still be involved in the background. "

The band doesn’t have its own band hall and rehearsals take place in Ledbury Primary School.

The spokesman said: "There is a committed group of players who make up a reliable committee who ensure communication, events, music and players are all managed with great efficiency. The band is part funded by Ledbury Town Council and each year, the band is invited to play at a number of Ledbury Town events plus a number of charity fetes, church services and Christmas carol concerts. Plans are also the making for a youth band with the band having secured funding."

The role of band director is a paid role.
