A VINEYARD in the south of Herefordshire has won a prestigious award for its wine.

Castle Brook Vineyard won the Montagu Trophy for Best Presented Wine in the English and Welsh Wine of the Year competition for its Classic Cuvée 2009.

The competition was run by the United Kingdom Vineyards Association with judges describing the bottle as simple, classy, understated and eye-catching.

In addition, the wine was awarded a Silver medal in the competition, which follows on from Castle Brook's recent Silver in the Decanter World Wine Awards.

The trophy will be awarded at the awards lunch in London later this month.

The newly-labelled Classic Cuvée is a traditionally styled Brut, which has been made using traditional Champagne grapes.

The wine is available to buy online at castlebrookvineyard.co.uk, as well as in some independent stockists.
