791 HOGGETS: More hogget numbers desperately needed. Talgarth has proved itself time and time again as a quality centre for selling fat lambs and hoggets and more numbers are needed if we are to sustain our strong and regular buying support and even to sustain the longevity of the market itself. The SQQ was 176p/kg (400p/kg est. deadweight) topping at 187p/kg for a pen of 41kg lambs from R.S Eckley and Son, Fforddfawr. A quality show of lambs on offer and hoggets that have been bellied and/or had a spell inside to dry off are making a premium. More sheep needed.
104 cull ewes and rams: A reduced entry of ewes but not surprising considering where the trade has gone. We don’t envisage the trade falling much further. Until the baron ewes dry up, the trade won't lift either.
