ORGANISERS of a renowned tractor show say this year's event will be bigger and better than ever before.

The Tractor World Show returns to the region next weekend with more than 450 new, classic, vintage and veteran tractors and machinery on display during the two days.

Also appearing at the Three Counties Showground event will be horticultural and farm model displays, plus stationary engines and classic Land Rovers, as well as spares, parts, toys, clothes, books and models.

One of the biggest shows of its kind, the indoor event will be held on March 14 and 15 and boasts a 'spring steam' theme for the two days.

Organiser Mark Woodward said: “Last year we erected a massive marquee which meant we had lots more space and most of the show was undercover.

"Visitors enjoyed browsing the trade and club stands in comfort, so this year with visitor numbers set to be even higher, the marquee will be used again.

"I’m really looking forward to seeing the spring steam spectacular as we’ve lined up several remarkable steam engines that will all be 'in steam' throughout the weekend."

Among the other attractions will be a competition by a group of students who will compete against each other to build a tractor in the quickest possible time.

Last year's show saw a record-breaking number of visitors attending.

Meanwhile, farmers also been invited to attend another agriculturally-themed event this summer.

More than 600 people attended the inaugural Arable Event at Weston Park in Staffordshire last year which was organised by the Wynnstay Group and Grainlink with backing from organisations across the sector.

Now, organisers have announced it will return to the same venue on June 17.

During the day, which is free for farmers to attend, there will be the opportunity to view and discuss extensive trial plots covering Winter and Spring cereals, oilseed rape, catch crops, cover crops, peas, beans and hybrid rye, along with a wide range of trade stands.

Experts will give presentations on a variety of relevant topics while attendees will also be able to earn professional development points and take advantage of a free moisture meter checking service.

Event manager Kelly Goodyear said: “We had such positive feedback from a huge number of exhibitors and farmers who attended last year that we have decided to expand the trial plots and exhibitor area this year, giving it even more variety.

“There is no other dedicated event of this kind in this region, which I would like see grow each year. The response at this early stage seems very promising."
