A PUB which had been part of a Herefordshire community for 200 years will re-open next week.

The Baiting House at Upper Sapey, between Bromyard and Tenbury Wells, closed last Spring following declining sales and was put on the market.

It has remained closed since but will re-open next Thursday (26th), keeping The Baiting House name.

Owner Kate Lane said: "My family has been based in and around Upper Sapey for several generations, and I remember visiting the pub as a young girl and enjoying the sunny garden on a Sunday lunchtime.

"Along with our fellow villagers we were very disappointed when the Baiting House eventually closed, but it has been a great honour for my husband Andrew and I to be able to bring this much-loved institution back to life."

She said the move will create jobs in a community "which desperately needs employment opportunities" without commuting to Hereford and Worcester.
