A 64-YEAR-old who is currently going through cancer treatment has achieved his challenge of cycling an ascent equivalent to the height of Everest.
Roger Calow, from Broad Oak, has a stage four malignant melanoma and is currently receiving groundbreaking treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
To say thank you for the care and support he received he cycled up the Bealach Na Ba road in northwest Scotland over five days, until he reached the height of Everest at 8,848 metres.
He said: "I was drained at the end of each climb and completely shattered and aching at the end of each day. But what a sense of achievement."
He has so far raised £4,000 but would love to reach his target of £8,848 for Macmillan Cancer Care and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Fighting Skin Cancer Fund.
