CANINE cops have assisted in a variety of police operations over the last month, helping officers arrest motorists suspected of holding controlled substances.
Last month a search dog discovered a “sizeable” amount of controlled drugs, concealed in a vehicle that was stopped by police in the Leominster area.
The find – following a stop on a rural Kimbolton lane – saw three males were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
This led to a series of searches carried out at a number of addresses, where more controlled drugs were seized.
Enquiries into the case are continuing.
This follows another arrest where sniffer dogs helped police detect drugs during a roadside stop near Ross-on-Wye.
Officers pursued a Toyota Celica after the driver failed to stop near Kerne Bridge, at around 11pm on the November 14.
The car then mounted the kerb and the driver fled.
A large amount of cash and what was thought to be cannabis and cocaine was found in the vehicle.
Two males from Lydney, one 17 years old, one 26 years old, were arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.
