HEREFORDSHIRE is synonymous with quality food and drink so it should come as no surprise to hear that more than 38,000 people made the trip to the county's flavours festival this summer.

Visitors flocked from as far afield as Newcastle and London to 'taste and buy' a menu of food, drink and crafts largely grown, produced and served in the region at the Flavours of Herefordshire Festival.

And it was such a success plans are already underway for two festivals next year – the annual three-day festival and a smaller Christmas event in November.

Figures collected by festival organisers showed that the festival – over the August bank holiday – saw 90 per cent of visitors stay for more than two hours, with 41 per cent spending more than £50.

Next year marks the festival's tenth anniversary and is set to take place between August 29 and 31 on Castle Green.

Plans for the Christmas festival is still underway but organisers say it could take place in a market town or in Hereford.
