THIS year sees Bromyard's own Concert Band's 35th anniversary. Over the years the band has grown into an ensemble of over 40 players.

To celebrate this achievement they are performing an anniversary concert on May 19 at the Falcon Hotel, in Bromyard.

The band has also recently performed at a new venue for them, at Areley, near Stourport.

To a packed audience, the band performed in aid of the local Methodist Church, and helped raise over £760. Music performed ranged across all genres, from classics such as Holst's EbSuite and Bizet's Carmen to Brave and The Lion King.

One highlight of the evening was an alto saxophone solo by Ed Ceney. He played a faultless rendition of Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Ed is presently a Year 10 high school pupil, studying for his GCSE in music. He is also working towards his Grade eight exam on saxophone.

The band's musical director, David Thomas, says the band is looking to find new venues for performances, and any interested party can contact them to make enquiries, and that any prospective new members can also find contact details on their website.

David says that although most sections in the band are complete, any wind or brass player is welcome to ask about joining, as spaces can usually be found.
