THE talk by bestselling author and founder of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, was organised by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and sold out in advance, filling the 200 seat theatre at Hereford's Sixth Form College.

Prof Goulson spoke passionately about the threats to the population of bumblebee species in the UK and globally but also inspired the audience with practical steps they could take to help.

Stas Calder, the event's organiser, commented after the event: "It was fantastic to see so many people turn out to hear the important messages about this key species. But it was also a fun night as the talk was as entertaining as it was informative."

As well as the talk, staff from Herefordshire Wildlife Trust's new shop at Queenswood created a mini pop-up shop to showcase the gifts they have in store and Community Interest Company Orchard Origins ran a pre and post-talk bar.

Professor Goulson is known as the founder of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, as author of numerous publications and popular books, including A Sting in the Tale and A Buzz in the Meadow, and is currently professor of biology (evolution, behaviour and environment) at the University of Sussex.
