THE Knighton Community Sports Association launched themselves at the recent Knighton Show and Carnival. The pavilion was opened by the Mayor of Knighton Sally Vaughan and refreshments were served all day. A competition to design a logo for the association was won by Georgia Davies who was presented with her prize on the day.

The movement began in 2015, following a four year spell of disuse for the Knighton pavilion and cricket pitch. It aims are to encourage rugby, football, cricket and hockey, particularly for the youth of Knighton and the surrounding areas.

Following negotiations, the council have renewed the lease for the ground, and refurbished a tired looking pavilion to its former glory. Sporting activities have been going on throughout the summer. To move the association forward, they are looking to level parts of the ground to make it more accessible for all, and thus are currently in the process of fundraising, and any help or ideas are welcomed.

Association member Victoria Deakins said "In addition to the above we would like to give thanks to all who assisted and supported on the show day, helping to raise over £1,000. The money raised is very important to us, as we need to improve the condition of the ground to accommodate cricket, football, rugby and hockey and going forward need to secure additional ground for a further pitch. Thanks to Caleb Roberts and Radnor Hills for their continued support. We would also like to thank Powys County Council who have helped us refurbish the pavilion, in particular Steve Gealy, who's commitment to completing the project, remained absolute, even through several lengthy delays. Finally, a word of thanks to PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) who helped us to form the new sports association."

The individual sports clubs are actively recruiting youth players for the forthcoming season, generally six to 16 year olds, more information is available on the Knighton Community Sports Association Facebook page or by emailing knightoncsa@gmail.com
