CHILDREN of a Herefordshire primary school are the lucky recipients of a special playhouse. The Playhouse Company, earlier this year, united with the Hay Festival. The festival celebrated adventure, laughter, sharing ideas and imagination – some of the core values behind the bespoke tree and playhouse creators.

To celebrate the Hay Festival, The Playhouse Company, created a very special playhouse that they donated to the festival and now that it has been passed on to Staunton-on-Wye Primary School, children can continue to enjoy it for years to come.

The playhouse was designed with the theme of Roald Dahl in mind, as that was the theme of this year's HAYDAYS programme, to celebrate the children's author's 100th centenary year.

The children of Staunton-on-Wye Primary School are thrilled with their new playhouse, as head teacher Mary Stevens explained, "We were thrilled to hear that the Hay Festival Playhouse was destined for our school. Since its arrival, the children have been playing on it at every moment they get, even to the point of suggesting they should have lessons on it! The colours merge so well with our bright and colourful playground and the solid structure means it is suitable for all the children."

Richard Frost, CEO of The Playhouse Company, commented: "In its celebration of creativity and imagination, the Hay Festival encompasses everything we believe in at The Playhouse Company so were delighted to be able to support the event. We were so pleased with the reaction our playhouse received at the festival, and could not be happier to see the joy it is giving to the children of Staunton-on-Wye Primary School!"

The Playhouse Company designs, builds and installs bespoke wooden playhouses that are perfect for children with a yearning for imaginative play. Based in Hereford, the family-run business was founded 20 years ago out of a passion for toy-making and encouraging children to reap the benefits of outdoor play.
