PAT Blandford and Sharon Williams organised a race night at the hall on May 7 to raise funds for both the village hall and for the West Midlands Air Ambulance. This was a great success and raised £1000 due to the kind support of sponsors and participants on the night. The picture shows Pat and Sharon handing over the two cheques for £500 to Mary Seldon, the WMAA fundraising manager, and Sheila Marsh, chairman of the Village Hall Committee, at a coffee morning in the hall on May 14. Mary explained that this year is the 25th year the WMAA has been in operation and in that time they have flown over 40,000 missions and grown from one helicopter to three. They hope to get an additional craft in service this year. She was very pleased to receive the donation as they have to raise over £7 million annually and every time we see an air ambulance overhead it costs £2,500 per flight. Sheila thanked Mary for coming and Pat and Sharon for raising the funds, which the hall would be putting towards renewing floors in the kitchen and bar areas of the hall.
