LIONSTOCK 2016 was a great success raising over £5000 for charity. The event was held recently at the Lion, Leintwardine and over the weekend nearly 2000 people attended. Seven bus loads of people came from Knighton and Bucknell over the two days swelling the crowds. During Saturday lots of bands and solo artists entertained everyone and on the Sunday it was time for Battle of the Bands with many local bands and performers taking part. Before the results were announced Will Watkins's band The Chiefs went on stage much to the enjoyment of everyone there. The results of the Battle of the Bands were; 1st Do Not Resuscitate, 2nd Saint Loe and a special prize for best solo artist went to Rory Naylor.

Over the weekend the staff at the Lion worked hard to make sure there were plenty of drink and food to go round and cooked hundreds of burgers and sausages as well as many dishes of paella.

Leintwardine Youth Group received £3,000 from the weekend. They had around 40 volunteers involved during the two days who took the gate money, were on bus, car park and camping duty. Karen Foote group coordinator said "The group will use the money for general running costs and to pay for anything extra the group needs including equipment, subsidising trips and training courses." St Michael's Hospice will receive £1,885 and £375 from parking fees will go to other local charities.

Will Watkins owner of the Lion with his wife Jane said "Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the event such a success. Including the Lion staff, all the volunteers and all the people who attended over the weekend. Once again we have raised thousands of pounds for charity that will benefit people both locally and a little further away."
