ON March 23 Knighton Rotary welcomed David Dutson to talk about the charity Lifestraws.
Each individual Lifestraw can filter 1000 litres of water, requires no power or spare parts and removes 99.999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.9% of waterborne protozoal parasites - this even includes the polio virus.
David demonstrated using muddy water and it was very effective, utilising a physical filter to catch the debris and a fabric filter to remove the remaining contaminants.
The cost per unit is £10, including postage, and is delivered directly to the people in need by the manufacturer.
There is also a family (18000 litres purified) as well as a community (for 100,000 litres) version. See more on our website knighton.rotary1150.org. David was thanked for a fascinating talk.
