A SUMPTUOUS meal featuring such delights as crab, sea bass, double chocolate soufflé was on the menu at the Cider Orchard restaurant in Hereford College when Rotarians visited as part of their Fun in the Community project.

Trainee chefs cooked the fine menu of food, and the students staffed the bar and waited at tables. There was an opportunity to explore the kitchens and college after which training manager Stuart Cottrell said he was very proud of the high standard achieved by students at the catering college.

He added "This restaurant the perfect retreat for a delicious lunch or dinner. All food is prepared and served by catering students, but the fabulous range of culinary delights by far exceeds what many people might expect from a training restaurant. An extensive range of seasonal dishes from fresh local produce are prepared and served to the highest standards, offering exceptional value for money. The clean white walls, contemporary licensed bar and smart plum upholstery set against crisp linen creates the perfect relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere."

Organiser of the event, Rotarian Ken Harris explained that supporting education and training is a large part of the Rotary ethos and to engage the local community in such a delicious way made the process so much more enjoyable.
