JOHN Clark was invested as the first leader of the Ewyas Harold Scouts on February 1. Twenty four cubs and the first two scouts formed a solemn circle as the new Scout leader pledged to do his best to uphold Scout values, to do his duty to The Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law. The brief ceremony means that the new Scout group is now fully formed and ready to go. The first two scouts will move up from cubs immediately, with more to follow shortly.

Ewyas Harold Group Scout leader Sue Jones said "I'm delighted to invest John, he's worked so hard to complete his training in record time. His energy and vitality are just what's needed for the group. He brings with him a wealth of expertise, such as climbing and mountain walking which will ensure that the Scouts will have a great time led by him."

John Clark said "I feel immensely honoured and proud to play my part in such an amazing organisation, come and join the adventure."

The Ewyas Harold Beavers and Cubs groups have grown rapidly over the last two years and now have members from nine schools in the area. The older cubs were not ready to leave and it was clear that a Scout group was needed. Sue Jones started the process last July and John Clark's investiture means that Ewyas Harold Scout Group now caters for children from six to 14. And it could well be that in a few years time that the group will be investing an Explorer leader, taking young adults up to the age of 18.
