MRS Di Curr one of Herefordshire Care Homes' valued volunteers won the Best Volunteer 2015 award recently.

This was a huge honour and achievement for Di who was invited to London to the NAPPA Annual Challenge and Awards Gala 2015 ceremony.

Di was nominated for the award by Dulas Court Care Home where she has been a volunteer for many years.

She has volunteered and supported various charities for over 40 years and has worked in the care sector helping others for most of her life. Di has a very positive and "can do attitude" to life.

She set up a knit and natter group for residents at Dulas Court and encouraged community members to join and through her efforts they have embarked on a project to knit items for children affected by the Nepal disaster and more recently Teddy Bears for Syria.

Di was awarded a cheque for £250 to be used for the benefit of the residents at Dulas Court. This money has been put towards setting up a coffee shop for residents, family and friends in the grounds of Dulas Court. This is proving very popular with residents as they can pop over to the coffee shop and enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea and a slice of delicious homemade cake. The coffee shop is currently open on a Monday and Tuesday from 10am till 4pm.
