THE Venns Close Golden Girls who are all over the age of 55 entered this year's Heart of England in Bloom 'It's Your Neighbourhood Competition' this year.
At the recent awards ceremony in Solihull, all their hard work was rewarded when Sally Robertson, secretary of the Hereford Society for Aiding the Industrious accepted a Level 5 Outstanding Award on their behalf.
She said 'The competition is a wonderful example of how it can unite and give focus to a community and the judges felt the ladies project was very much admired receiving 93 marks out of 100.'
Venns Close is owned by the registered charity, Hereford Society for Aiding the Industrious and comprises a peaceful shared courtyard layout surrounded by 16 almshouses for women.
