RESIDENTS enjoying a morning of reminiscence with Museum on the Move were posed the question: Are we cleaner than our ancestors?
In an exhibition entitled 'now wash your hands' they were able to explore the history of soap and sewage, while being shown a range of exhibits including an old privy - an earth toilet down the garden - and a tin bath for washing in front of the fire.
Patricia Fergusson described the experience 'I've enjoyed visiting museums for many years and so it was fantastic for a museum to visit me.'
Rita O'Leary said 'I really enjoyed it and I can still remember the smell of carbolic soap.'
Mike Burge and Patricia Tierney from Herefordshire Museum Service were thanked for their guidance and excellent anecdotes.
