EARDISLAND Parish Council and residents, particularly the young people of the parish, were delighted to welcome Sascha Kindred to officially open the new playground equipment on August 15. The new equipment (a zipwire, bouldering wall and goal end for older children and a climbing and slide combination for younger children) has been funded by generous grants from the Severn Waste Environmental Fund 'Welcome to Our Future' scheme and the Big Lottery Fund.

The Eardisland Community Shop also gave a significant donation and the young people of the parish did lots of amazing fundraising.

After cutting the ribbon for the official opening and watching the first official goes on the zipwire by young people and a brave adult, Sascha delighted the young people by showing them his 2012 and other medals.

Everyone then settled down to their picnics and enjoying the new facilities, while being serenaded by the Eardisland Village Band.
