VISITORS to the Royal Welsh show this year will have the chance to buy bottles of water with the brand name Woolly Sheep, designed by 11 year old Knighton Primary School pupil Charlie Martin.

Radnor Hills Water Ltd. asked Year 5 and 6 pupils at Knighton primary school to research, design and sell their own bottle of water or soft drink. As part of their research pupils travelled to Radnor Hills to have a look at the production lines of their water and soft drinks. The competition was judged by William Watkins, managing director of Radnor Hills, Claire Cornes, product development manger and Cllr Chris Branford mayor of Knighton. There were over 60 entries and the judges spent most of an afternoon choosing a winner.

Charlie Martin found out he had won the competition on July 13 at a school assembly. Not only will he have his design put onto a bottle, he also won a family ticket to the show. Charlie said " I am really looking forward to going to the show for the first time and I can't wait to see the bottles printed with my design". William Watkins wrote on Charlie's winning entry 'Great design, great brand name, high impact, well done'. William also said "We the judges were really impressed with the amount of work the children had put into this project. There were lots of excellent entries but we could only choose one winner." He thanked all the children for taking part. Profits from the sale of the Woolly Sheep drinks will go to Knighton Primary school.
