HOME-START Herefordshire, a local charity that gives support and friendship to families in our community, last week celebrated 10 years of running a family group in the children’s centre in Ross-on-Wye.

The toy library group has been a big part of HSH since 2005. Held every Thursday during term time, the group gives parents, grandparents and guardians a safe place to spend time with their children in lovely surroundings.

The group has indoor and outdoor play areas with fully qualified play leaders always on hand to help and give advice if required.

Play leader Sandy Pryde said: "The outside play area for the group has had a garden makeover. The garden now includes a hedgehog home, the sandy beach area, a herb garden and colourful flower beds. The group have added their own contribution to the garden a standard red rose tree, which they planted with the help of the families and their children on April 23 to commemorate St George's Day. The children, with their parents, will now be able to take a little responsibility for watering and feeding the plants and creatures and see for themselves the changes that happen during their time at the play group."
