AS the house lights dimmed at the Woolhope Village Hall last Saturday evening, attendees knew they were in for a theatrical treat.

The Woolhope Amateur Dramatic Society (WADS) in the capable hands of director Shelia McEnery, performed Cinders, the True Story, a re-telling of Cinderella with a modern and humorous twist.

The audience was enthralled with a narration by the Hairy Godmother, Ian Quayle and charmed by Anna Rhodes as Cinderella. There were outstanding antics from the ugly stepsisters Potty and Dotty played by Phil Hawkins and Andrew Bailey and Vanessa Ballance was suitably regal as the Prince.

There was a demonstration of precision comic timing from Paul Rhodes as Buttons and the entire performance was punctuated by the re-appearance of a Lost Thespian from other pantomimes played admirably by Steve Chandler.

The show was topped off with the fabulous efforts from the young and enthusiastic chorus who delighted the audience with their singing, dancing and witty one-liners and attendees left the hall with a spring in their step and a smile on their face.
