A HEREFORD business has been named as one of the best retailers in Britain at a recent awards ceremony in Manchester.
Philip Morris and Son, based in Widemarsh Street, has been recognised at Britain’s Best Retailer awards, organised by three leading business magazines, DIY Week, Hardware and Garden Review and Housewares Magazine.
The awards applaud excellence in home enhancement retailing and the winners were picked by an independent panel of industry experts from hundreds of entries and nominations.
Philip Morris and Son was chosen as a silver winner in the independent department store category.
The family-run store has expanded in recent months into bedding and towels and has also increased the choice of glass and china.
It now employs 34 staff and runs a substantial online business.
Partners Maurice, Bunty, John and Bruce Jones say they are delighted that the dedication of all their staff has been rewarded.
The awards, now in their eighth year, recognise those retailers who have gone above and beyond in the past year, in many cases growing their businesses in the face of the toughest economic climate many have ever faced.
