WESTERN Power Distribution (WPD) has supercharged its shift to Skylon Park, with staff expected to be working in the new purpose-built base at Rotherwas as soon as next month.
Bill Jackson, chairman of the Hereford Enterprise Zone board, said the progress made was “staggering.”
Most of the staff will be moving from WPD’s temporary base in Three Elms.
The shift sees 42 new jobs created covering managerial, administrative, technical and field staff, and the enlarged team now includes eight apprentices.
WPD announced plans to move to the zone last year and the new building will offer engineering facilities, office space and storage for the company.
Meeting this week with WPD estate manager David Withers to view progress on the development, Mr Jackson, chairman of the Enterprise Zone Board, said: “We were delighted when WPD committed to relocate to Skylon Park and the pace with which their new facility has sprung up is quite staggering.
“We now have 40,000 sq ft of workspace either built or under construction and we look forward to welcoming the WPD employees as they move in over the coming weeks.”
Hereford Enterprise Zone is focused on creating more than 4,000 new jobs in the coming years.
