A NEW business launched in Herefordshire will help those who no longer wish to drive their own car or are unable to do so.

Butler and Parker Companion Drivers says it will provide a dependable means of transport, and reduce the need to rely on family members or friends to help.

Its drivers will drive a liveried Butler and Parker VW Golf Plus around the county and be uniformed, but the service is different from a chauffeur or taxi company.

It describes itself as a “through the door” service, not just a “to the door” one, and it charges for its time rather than by the mile.

Drivers will support clients whether they want to go shopping, to the hairdresser, visit friends, the doctor, be picked up from school or taken out for a leisurely drive.

David McLaren, chairman of Butler and Parker, said: “We anticipate that the arrival of Butler and Parker will be most welcome, particularly in rural areas of Herefordshire and especially to the elderly and those requiring mobility with extra support and reassurance.

“Our new service will provide not only freedom, independence, mobility and enjoyment for its users, but also respite and peace of mind for users, relations and carers.
