A BRAND new one-woman show brings back to life the timeless performances of Joyce Grenfell, a star of stage, screen and radio for more than 40 years and master of the comic monologue and the comic song.
Joyce is still fondly remembered today for the sparkling wit of her signature character sketches and songs, and actress Rebecca Grace presents an uncannily accurate portrayal in the show, which can be seen at Bromyard ’s Conquest Theatre on Saturday, September 15, at 8pm.
Grenfell is perhaps best remembered for playing Sgt Ruby Gates in the original St Trinian’s films, and this show features her most inspired creations, including the unforgettable “George, don’t do that!” sketch.
The show also features classic Grenfell songs co-written with longtime collaborators Richard Addinsell (Warsaw Concerto ) and Donald Swann (of Flanders and Swann fame).
